"Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen.
Revelation 22:20

This is a Home Bible study. It exists to promote the Word of God as it's written, which means nothing added or taken away, and minus opinions.

The Bible is the only source of Divine Truth in the world today. Although it is both helpful and informative in many ways, the Bible often doesn't tell us everything we want to know but the Bible does tell us everything we need to know.

My role is to guide you through the Scriptures; to explain what this book says and in some cases what it does not say because this is just as important.

Ultimately, you have a decision to make concerning your salvation - no one can make it for you. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator God, has given everyone the ability to make choices - this is is called "Free Will." I pray you consider your choice wisely.

II Timothy 2:15

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth
(2 Timothy 2:15)

This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1Timothy 2:3-4

 Romans by the Book

Lesson 3

Chapter 1

Romans
The Gospel Exalted

1: Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,

We’ve been “parked” on verse one of Romans chapter 1 for the past two lessons.

The Apostle Paul’s opening remarks to the Believers in Rome identifies him as the writer of this letter and Paul also cites his God-given qualifications.

Now let’s take a good look at article #3 in Paul’s opening remarks.
There are two parts to this statement from Paul.

“Paul…set apart…”
What is Paul saying and why did he put this remark in here?

“Set apart” in the Greek is “aforizo” and means to separate for some purpose.

Paul (Saul of Tarsus) was chosen or called by the Lord Jesus Christ (from heaven) to be the apostle to the gentiles and no other (see Acts chapter 9) for this specific purpose.

Furthermore, no other apostle or person received the revelations or the “mysteries” pertaining to the Age of Grace from the risen Lord but Paul and then “sent” to preach these doctrines to the Jews and the Gentiles.

“Paul… set apart for the gospel of God,”

It’s all in the wording.
Paul does not say “a” Gospel, as if there were more than one gospel in circulation that bears the same God-given authority and power.

After the Apostle Paul is “called” by the Risen Lord and begins his ministry to both Jew and Gentile (for now there is no difference) there is but one Gospel by which a person is saved (See Romans 2:16).  The gospel of the kingdom fades from the scene and is replaced by the gospel of grace – Paul’s gospel.

Salvation is based on one’s belief in the gospel and not by trying to keep the Law.
It’s a matter of FAITH – plus nothing else.
I have copied from Scripture the clearest description of “the Gospel” in print there is and copied it below.

If you believe this “good news,” you will be saved.

The Fact of Jesus Christ’s Resurrection

I Corinthians 15

1: Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,

2: by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.

3: For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

4: and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Your salvation is based on faith plus nothing else.

You don’t need to climb a tall mountain, you don’t need to swim an ice cold raging river, you don’t have to walk a mile on broken glass barefoot, you don’t need to join a particular church group, tithe a certain amount each week, pray a particular way, or anything else you or anyone else can envision.

Before Jesus died He said, “It is finished.”   Everything that needed to be done was done.  Now if you try to add even one more thing to what Jesus accomplished on the cross you make Jesus out to be a liar.  It is finished!

Jesus Christ paid the price God the Father demanded.  You have been redeemed!
Now all you have to do is appropriate the gift.  You do this by believing the gospel.
Sounds too simple, yes I know.  Sounds simple but it’s also complicated.
All you need to understand at this juncture is the simple portion of God’s plan.
Believe the gospel of grace and be saved.
