Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth
(II Timothy 2:15)
The First Seal Opened
Part I of III
In our last session, Les covered the first horseman and introduced the second horseman.
I wrote an additional lesson on this subject showing you why I believe this first horseman is the Anti-Christ and not the Lord Jesus Christ. I left a few things out of that lesson that I think you should be aware of so, for now, that’s where I’m headed…
1: Then I saw when the Lamb (Jesus Christ) broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.”
(This 1st rider is summoned forth under the direction of God the Father. Therefore, it is time according to God’s timetable. His appearance marks the beginning of the end...)
2: I (John) looked, and behold, a white horse, and he (The Anti-Christ is not Satan) who sat on it (Here are three things to be aware of…he) had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
Most folks just read over a Bible verse without considering the message it intends to convey.
…So, there’s a bow, a crown, and he conquers…what’s next, kinda thing?
Bible students ask questions and seek answers. Jesus shared God’s wisdom and taught His disciples about Spiritual issues using parables…remember this when you are studying your Bible.
Why? God is dealing, once again, primarily with the nation of Israel during this time period.
It is the time of “Jacob’s trouble…” Therefore, we are going to find symbolism and word pictures which are meant to stir up those who have “eyes to see” and “ears to hear.”
In doing so, they will understand the Truth and react accordingly.
These three items are given to us, they are noteworthy, otherwise, why mention them?
Let’s examine them singularly.
I have no problem interpreting the word “bow” in verse two as an implement of war.
To me that’s obvious because the verse shows he is coming to conquer...
He has a bow; but arrows are not mentioned; or arrows are purposely left out.
What could this mean?
Literally speaking, a bow without arrows is just a stick. Can’t do much harm with just a stick now can you? But symbolically speaking, on that day future, he appears on the scene with charisma, seduction, and sincerity and not with force (or minus the arrows).
He comes not with armies, tanks, and airplanes; but as the spokesperson and with the backing of multiple anti-Semitic nations. He is coming with the solutions to every one's problem. He comes offering peace to Israel and their neighbors; and evidently he has the power/the forces to back up such an offer should anyone think otherwise.
Israel wants peace. This is no secret. But can you picture radical Hamas, Hezbollah, the PLA, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, and many other countries, including Russia, agreeing to make peace with Israel? Talk about Mission Impossible…but it shall be accomplished by this first horseman. I pray you are beginning to see.
And what action triggers God’s end-time prophecy. What action starts God’s “time-clock” and His dealings with the nation of Israel? The Anti-Christ signs a peace treaty with the nation of Israel. But remember. This so-called peace treaty isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.
It’s a fake just like the Anti-Christ.
Before this agreement can be signed by the interested parties there has to be negotiations of course. If presidents and the UN cannot come to agreement with Israel and its enemies, how will the Anti-Christ succeed where others have failed?
Never forget Satan is the “father of lies.” I think this is the key.
II Thessalonians 2:
9: (This is the Apostle Paul speaking to believers) “…that is, (The Anti-Christ) the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of (who) Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders (minus the arrows),
10: and with all the (what) deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be (what) saved.
11: For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false.
The Anti-Christ will lie in order to bring about the inking of this peace covenant.
That’s what Scripture calls it.
27: “And he (the Anti-Christ) will make a firm covenant with the many (Jews and non-Jews) for one week (that’s seven years Biblically speaking. What’s the next word) but in the middle of the week (3 ½ years) he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering;
We know a portion of this peace covenant includes the re-building of God’s Temple in Jerusalem. How else can the Anti-Christ put a stop to “sacrifice” and “grain offerings?”
We know after the signing of this covenant Israel’s defense forces will stand down.
I want to show you, using Scripture of course, that this isn’t my idea.
10: “Thus says the LORD GOD, “It will come about on that day, that thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil plan,
11: and you will say, “I will go up against the land of unwalled villages. (Stop and think what is this verse saying? What’s the purpose of wall? They keep invaders out and the people safe. Right now Israel’s defense forces are among the world’s elite.
Some say, the best. After they agree to this peace covenant, there will be no need for a defense. Their peace and security is guaranteed in this covenant.
12: to capture spoil and to seize plunder, to turn your hand against the waste places which are now inhabited, and the people (who are these? The Jews) and against the people who have been gathered from all the nations, (Remember a lesson not so long ago from Ezekiel 37 where he writes about the “dry bones” coming back to life and returning to their land of promise under God’s direction? From their dispersion starting in 70AD until 1948 God’s elect have been outside of their land) who have acquired cattle and goods, who live (where) at the center of the world.” (Most folks would say that New York City is the world’s center; but not the Lord Jesus Christ. Jerusalem is it.)
(To be continued)
